I Love Geeks

Last night, sitting up on our roof with some friends, sipping some wine and noshing, I heard an alarm. One of our friends, punching buttons on watch (the alarm went silent), turned his head and looked out to the northwest where a bright star was climbing swiftly up the ladder of sunset.

"That's the space station."

I think if you take an active interest in anything not readily provided by the low hanging fruit of entertainment and commercialism, you're a geek.

That makes anyone even reading a blog a geek. I think. What do I know? I draw cartoons, read comics and think rock 'n' roll can still create positive social change. But then, that may just make me a dork.

I love geeks and I don't know why. My friend wants to take me to group therapy and talk to people about my desire to marry a geek. I think a geek is a socialy challenged person who is in his/her own world and has a sense of humor nobody besides maybe other geeks understand, and they always have a "weird" hobby. Now that I think of it , I now know what's wrong with me! I am a GEEK! Well, better go, I must find another geek to make geek babies, or maybe I am just a nerd or a dork. What's the difference? Does watching Monty Python make me a dork?

"if you take an active interest in anything not readily provided by the low hanging fruit of entertainment and commercialism, you're a geek."

Makes a certain sense.

The "low hanging fruit of entertainment and commercialism" as you put it, Kevin, may have spawned a type of herd mentality devoid of critical thinking.

Then perhaps one could chose to redefine 'geek' as one who, outside of the ever-growing norm, thinks for his- or herself, and does not blindly accept conveniently packaged 'media/commerce' truth-btyes.

My name is Cherrele and i have a problem...well not really a problem. I LOVE GEEKS..and nerds...and dorks(whats the difference?) i just cant help it. it's the brains! i want someone who i can have a conversation with who wants to talk about something other than sports or cars or the opposite sex.*sigh* i dunno. sometimes i worry if that is normal, but then i think to myself, what is normal. Who i am attracted to should not matter. Everyone has feelings and everyone wants to be loved. and i want to be a geek/nerd/dork lover.

Why do you hate Monty Python?
You are dumb for not knowing the difference between "your" and "you're"!!

Dorks rock!

I was sitting there today at school watching a movie and I wasn't really into the movie so I was kind of bored and I'm like, "what do I want to do?" I didn't want to go read either (current books: Lord of the Flies and The Bedford Handbook for Writers) nor did I want to go write (I write all the time about everything - but mostly about God and stuph)and then it hit me - I had the sudden urge to go do math problems (algebra to be exact - I'm only in 9th grade so that's pretty much as advaced as I get). I also am beginning to find biology fasinating. Wow! I'm a geek! I love geeks! Geeks rock (especially Sam Savage on Complete Savages)!
