Speedtrap- dot - com

Having spent about twenty-seven hours on highways in the past four days, I began to think about how to get home faster. Given that I-90 runs straight through from Buffalo to Boston, nothing was there to be gained by taking an alternate route. If I wanted to get home faster, I would have drive faster.

It will begin innocently enough...

When the internet is standard equipment in our cars, when we are uplinked to the net at all times, someone will develop copsight.com or speedtrap.com. To use the site, whenever you see Smokey, you register his location and direction. If enough people do this, then a real-time map will be generated of the location of every state trooper. Over time, the patrolling patterns of each state, each substation, and each individual trooper will become known.

The police will fight to keep this information from being broadcast and the resulting publicity will popularize the sites, turn them into just one more tool everybody uses.

And then someone will expand this idea to cities and cops on the beat. And then . . . crime wave.

This is such a good idea that it must have already been implemented!
